One of the reasons we’re in a constant loop of feeling overwhelmed, out of focus & lost. Is the overload of information we get EVERY SINGLE DAY. From the minute we wake up till the minute we go to sleep, it’s GO, GO, GO… It feels like we can’t even catch our breath, let along FOCUS on anything at all.
The answer to this problem is (Disconnecting). Disconnecting from all the distractions around you is a must, you need to disconnect & take a step back, and learn how to focus better and become more creative. This routine you’ll see right now, refer to a series of actions that you need to do daily and on purpose until you feel you’re doing them naturally. Until it becomes a force of habit.
Applying this routine will help you focus better and become more creative:
- Start your day quietly. Wake up before everyone else. Don’t turn on the laptop and don’t check your social media. Enjoy your breakfast and read a couple of pages of your favorite book or just stare at the empty wall. Maybe go for a run around the block or meditate.
- Set your to-do list. Start with the urgent/important things (in case you wonder check the Eisenhower matrix) the things that you want to finish before the day ends.
- Learn to refocus. During the day, you might get overwhelmed by distractions. It’s totally normal. Take a break, go for a walk, or 10 minutes of disconnection. Then review your to-do list, to make sure you’re on the right track.
- Focus, Break, Focus. Focus for 15 minutes, then rest for 5 minutes; set your alarm for 15 minutes of complete focus on the task in hand, then rest your eyes & move from your chair do some stretching for 5 minutes & so on.

- Try dividing your focus. You can do this when you have two major somewhat relatable tasks at hand. Give each task 15 minutes of Focus, rest for 5 minutes & then switch to the other task.
- Limit your social focus. Set a certain amount of time to check your email or social media, you can try the “your activity reminder” on your social app to set a limitation for your time on it.
- End your day right. Enjoy your evening by disconnecting.
- Perform weekly reviews. Review your week, to see what needs changing and what works fine with you.
